My life as a guide

My life as a girl guide has been wonderful one. Thinking back, if I never joined guides, I'll not be who I am now. There are many things I've done for the first time in my entire life and I'm gonna list them...

1) picked wood for the first time on 1/5/09 during our first greyguides outing at bishan park. still remember shihui wore a skirt. haha and then we all died walking. but we picked a lot of wood and dumped it at my house.
2) did cucumber treatment during greyguides outing 2010 wenxin and i are cool kids.
3)cooked using wood and matches and maybe a hole in the ground and we call it outdoor cooking
4) ate contaminated food with ashes but seriously, its nice. haha and I didn't die or have a bad stomach
5) learned knots and did gadgets which I enjoyed doing
6) doing a gateway structure witnessing people climb on the 'steps' tied using poles
7) getting 75% for all my tests
8) camwhoring HAHAHAHAH serious I have so many pictures!
9) Did serious stuff such as ASG and I can't play a fool. but it was a rare opportunity to help out for ASG.
10) Went at least 48 hours without sleeping during guides camp
11) scooping water from dome tents with alicia. I mean why always dome tent... when it floods it means scooping water. bet alicia knows what i mean but had a lot of fun.
12) texting buddies with huijan for like 2.5 years straight. and we invented :=] its called the pig face/plastic surgery face. it was so funny
13) help out at the guides shop at least once a month. means I learnt how to do stock-taking and did the cashier even though I'm so blur. Aunty betty is my budddyyyy.
14) because I helped out at the guides shop....

15) During secondary 1 camp, hiked from bukit timah to newton by foot and i've never done that before
16) 'hiked' with carnation and shihui from some unknown place (we got lost) to east coast park. it was fun though it rained and all.
17) slept on the grass for the first time. seriously, its very comfortable.
18) the first time I went bowling was with grey guides. :P
19) stayed over at a chalet for the first time with bbq
20) Played cheat with Melina, Jillian, Vivian and Ayana till 4.30am in the morning during chalet haha that was like the best. i'm the worst cheater in the world.
21) icecream at like 11.30pm during our chalet. I don't eat late during chalet. haha thats my first time!!
22) Campfire!!!! Singing campfire songs and getting high I'm so going to miss all this highness and going to other schools for campfires etc
23) Made icecream for the first time during icecream initiative.
24) Dance for the first time in my life greyguides dance is considered a proper dance... still remember how we practised morning, after school recess just for a campfire and we made stupid stuff to help us remember.. "underwear!!! one direction!!! dig dig up up peep. dig dig up up peep!! " that moment when everyone said it together while practising.
25) played mario kart for the first time in my life at xenia's house. Wah, I'm really bad at that. HAHA
26) given a position in guides made me more serious instead of fooling around and thats the first time I've gotten a position or something. I'm always the one fooling around.
27) learning to be cheapo when giving presents
28) DID I MENTION, ON 23/5/12, GREYGUIDES SANG....
"happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us, happy birthday to greyguides, happy birthday to us"
and everyone in the canteen was staring at us.
29) Helping backstage at Jubilate and SYF. saikang but I enjoyed!
30) stalking people with Sharlene Lee that was seriously hilarious
31) Having to wear a skirt because everyone was going to wear!
32) went to chiangrai to do CIP with a few of greyguides but we were the largest fraction. I miss the kids. awww.
33) dug poles out from the ground with my bare hands... mud spa. haha that was fun and we even met earthworms and whatnots.

I think there are many more first times but I can't really remember then. Well.. about my journey in guides...
1) Camp camelot'09
clarent patrol

2) camp theatre'10
romeo and juliet patrol with melina and alicia and we had to scoop water from our dome tents and alicia seriously enjoyed it.

3) camp wanted'11
Joker patrol with alicia again. I'm always stuck with her and we apparently had to scoop water from our dome tents again.

4) camp olympus'12
with greyguides :')

5) Went to the zoo with greyguides in sec 1 for flora and fauna in October after our tests.
And there was a peeing baboon and it kept playing with its thing.. HAHA we laughed and laughed till we cried or something.

6) Helped out backstage at Jubilate in secondary two and it was tiring

7) Helped out at SYF in sec 2 and we missed geog test together.

8) Helped out at sports day. SAIKANG. We had to distribute water and food It was super tiring but fun though

9) Outing at sembawang park where I did cucumber therapy and had lots of fun

10) first grey guides outing was on 1/5/09 and we went to bishan park to pick wood.

11) Ceremonial drills>> centenary
blur me had to march in front with other guides and I was kinda lost and it was really scary. HAHA.

12) Helped out at ASG. Trying to have a serious face is no joke. Had no youth day and did saikang for 3 days straight but I seriously enjoyed myself a lot!

13) enrollment on the 23/5/09 at pasir ris park.

14) helping out at homecoming.

15) farewell... :( 23/6/12 3years and 1 month together (':

I guess there are many stuff I did huh which I probably couldn't remember but I've learnt many things as a girl guide. Talk about being Kiasu. When I do a video, I'll save one in thumbdrive, one in my camera SD card and one on my youtube so if one screws up, the other doesn't. I mean I'm so cool right. Wait I always do that including documents--> in my email. Thats the guides motto: Be prepared

As a girl guide, I've learnt take initiative and to step out from my comfort zone and to face the world and make sure I'm useful and not useless. I hated to take initiative because I'm a very blur person and I cannot afford to like do wrong stuff or something. I used to be in my shell at all times.

I still remember how I used to giggle whenever I stand in front of the crowd. And now, I can entertain people easily and stand in front of a crowd, play guitar/talk/sing/laugh without going into stage-fright mood. Being shy was my thing. I was a quiet girl. Really. I never expected that either. I've to keep my patrol going too because I hate awkward silence.. that means stepping out of my comfort zone once again. To achieve my ultimate comedian/joker/entertainer state took me at least 3.5 years of hard work and effort of stepping out of my own world. It may seem easy to others when it comes to talking and all but it wasn't easy. I do remember there are periods of times when I shun myself out.

Not only that I've learnt to be very systematic or more or less systematic because if I don't, I'm going to screw up the whole patrol since I'm the patrol leader. I do hate stuff that are not systematic too!!!

Haha. Being a girl guide, I've learnt to be on time too. I mean if I don't be on time, I'm so going to get scolded and neither do I hate being late. I hate the feeling of waiting and I hate the feeling of making people wait for me so I've adjusted my time in such a way that I won't have to do so even if my friends are going to be late.

Not only that, being in guides, I've learnt to be the listening party and listen to everyone's gossip and well, that was really interesting. And I've also learnt to provide useful solutions when the juniors need instead of just joking around. I've always been the joker and will always be the joker but I've learnt to be serious when I need to.

Before I forget, I must mention that I'm not scared of bugs any more because I've literally slept with them and rolled on them during the nights during guides camp. I've slept under tents for at least 7 times. And I'm not afraid of getting dirty. I've learnt the importance of saving the earth and learning from my mistakes and telling myself not to repeat again. Though at times, I felt like giving up as a girl guide because there are many things to do and commit and I never really liked to commit myself to do anything and that my studies are like crap but I've learnt to endure, motivate and push myself forward. Which was something new: to be able to cope and try my best.

One creepy stuff I've learnt was to be able to stalk and observe pretty well. Wait, I'm good at that from the start but being a girl guide I've learnt to observe the people around me pretty well and I do know quite a lot of stuff which I usually don't mention but I just know it. HAHAHA its a talent. By the way, I was trained to do that. Don't ask me how. I think Beatrice knows about it... :\

There are many many more things I've learnt and gained from my experience as a girl guide and it will always be in me forever.

These memories will always be in my head like how I remembered stuff back dated all the way when I was a 2-3 year old child really clearly. And fond memories never fade away.

once a guide, forever a guide.

One thing I'll always remember is that I'm a sunflowerer, and a mynah maniac. Even though I'm eventually in mynah and am the Patrol leader, sunflower is still my patrol and I love both patrols equally. (:

Greyguides made an interesting chapter in my memory and I'll never ever forget it because I'll forever remember them. I've learnt so many stuff from my peers and through them, I've managed to grow in person and truly enjoyed myself these years. I really hope that we keep in touch and still go for outings followed by taking 1 hour to decide on where to eat/ go and wait for someone to just decide on something and then some start to whine but eventually follow. Fellowship sessions are the best and they will always be.
I'm very grateful to my juniors and seniors who made it possible and that with the help of facebook, I can still stalk/keep in touch with them. I'm so going to miss laughing and disturbing them so badly. I'm going to be a sad kid for the next few months. I'll definitely miss guiding and am SO NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO STUDY FOR OLEVELS AND GO ON FULL TERM MUGGING MOOD.

As we go on,
we remember all the times we
had together
as our lives change, now or never,
we will still be guides forever....

our last guides session

Yesterday went pretty fast because that was our final official guides session where we do camp craft something that I'm pretty proud to do because I've enjoyed it for 3.5 years.
Falled in and learn the world song before we had creative gadgets competition which was so funny because Mynah patrol's creative juices are slightly more than mine even though I'm from mynah but I gotta say we all are really bad at creativity do we... Haha went around taking pictures and found that some were really uber interesting!
Our gadget... its a laptop table.. by the beach. -_-
I think this is ixora's gadget.. a chair. so cool right! we just needa use gateway poles or something.
Not sure what this is but its pretty cool!
After that we started enrollment. Finally being able to see my sec ones enrol.. That sense of happiness when I have to say "I am Nicole Ang, patrol leader of Mynah and my secondary 1 recruits Audrey, Kay mei and Hazel are ready for enrolment." Aww man, really hope that they will not lose passion for guides and love guides more and work together well like melina, jillian and I and now ever since sec 2 when I got transferred over to mynah, to work with shi hui and elisabeth... still remember when I was sec one when we got enrolled on 23/05/09 at pasir ris park.
Yepp, I still remember clearly....
During enrolment while going into horseshoe formation.
Yepp... after that we camwhored. I mean its our last time in our guides uniform official. now the thought of it is really saddening. I've worn it since 23/5/09!! Thats like 3 years and 1 month! Haha. Yeah... The 1 month is not really 1 month because its the holiday... -_- so technically its around 3 years. And I'm very proud of wearing my guides uniform because thats what stands out right?
With sunflower patrol.... yepp, I was from sunflower and still am a sunflowerer and forever will always be a sunflowerer.
taken after the sec ones got enrolled.. saw the shiny enrolment badge there?
SNGG. Took us forever to take that picture. So pretty right! True blue guides for life.
 squad picture 1-formal
 squad picture 2- formal
squad picture 3- deciding on an action
squad picture 4- fun shot. we're so cute.
 squad picture 5- pretty much
Yepp, we took more though. Just uncountable.. And we camwhored more before changing to get ready for outdoor cooking.
After outdoor cooking, we did guides own where wenxin, lynnette and I entertain them with we are young. Well isn't that what we enjoy doing the most? After receiving many letters of thanks.. I feel... like a bitch. Cos I never write back to many of them and they were quite short. But I've written my farewell letters for some though..
So today was.. The last day. And now my CCA is olevels. I'm going to hate that CCA so much and there is no way I can escape from that. So we did internal campfire and kinda enjoyed ourselves before farewell when I basically cried when the sec 2s sang when you're gone and wish you were here. And the sec 3s video.. Its so touching and that was the part where it hit me most that its time to leave guides. Sec 1s dance were really cute. I even videoed it and I was probably pedoing on some. Okay lets not talk about that..
the starting when we came in
 sec 2s performance
 sec 3s dance
sec 3s serenading us...
I didn't take pictures for sec ones but I videoed.. Aww man. I feel so sad :((
So after that was promotion. Outgoing PL, Nicole Ang. Incoming PL, Wan Yee. Incoming PS, hannah phua. I hope that everyone will really work with wan yee and hannah and that patrol meetings aren't awkward without me because I realised half the time I'm the one doing all the talking and fooling around. Guess I'm born to be an entertainer. Yepp..
sunflower full extended family with mel, jillian and i, sherill, clarisse, wanyee, joan and kelly, sophia and gladys. I mean we're so cool. All always being promoted. Hope joan and kelly will get promoted and let their sunflowerness shine too!
 with xuanxuan. haha.
with sarah
With mynah patrol. We're as cool as ever. Hope that everyone will be cool and stay awesome!

Thats about it for these two days....
I'm gonna have another blogpost on my guiding life in SNGG later tonight.
Yepp and greyguide's final farewell video.. shit I feel so emotional even though I was the one who did the compiling and all..
tune the volume up!

same mistakes

Sigh, that moment when I kept telling myself book after book: Never mind, this shall be the last book.
But then I started on a new one. This whole reading thing is getting really addictive ever since I've found wattpad.
I can uninstall twitter and forget all about it. I don't even bother to read my twitter but I can't stop reading books from wattpad. Authors there are so much more interesting than those who published books. I promise. Even though I love reading published books but the only ones I really preferred were from Sophie Kinsella, Jk Rowling, Charlotte Bronte. And I've basically finished reading their stuff. Apart from that with other books found in the library here and there.. Some were just boring or some of their synopsis just looked so boring.
Okay, back to my normal life. This week mark the start of extra lessons or maybe the mark of horror. I've managed to survive 4hours of physics today, 2 hours of Chemistry and 2 hours of Mathematics. My butt could split into half any time and I felt like my eyelids gained weight every hour. I'm not exaggerating. That was how I felt.
1st hour of physics: attentive
2nd hour of physics: okay, still absorbing but suddenly stuff don't seem to be clear.
3rd hour of physics: shit, luckily I have tuition and learnt before if not I'm going to be so dead.
4th hour of physics: damn it. When is lunch coming :(
as compared to chemistry
1st hour: yes. felt so good to have my favourite subject!
2nd hour: come on this is taking too long. :\
vs mathematics
1st hour: I'm lost
2nd hour: I'm very lost.
Well, at least the new classroom was huge! Even though the balcony I've always loved isn't there anymore but its windy.. (well, we're on the 5th floor!) and there are 6 fans. I know other schools already had that but then the noob me never once experienced a classroom with more than 4 fans. HAHA even better was the canteen is just 1 flight of stairs down! Isn't that the best? I still remember last time we had to climb... (imagine the pre-renovation days) 4 flights and walk a really long distance if I'm not wrong and I used to try the short cut by cutting through the slope up the family lounge which is no longer there :( The best part of the day was when Michelle and I got lost in our own school and not know how to get out! We were climbing the stairs... LOST and then we heard Rong Yi, Jophe, Terese, Han talking and apparently, they're lost too! So yeah we made our way back to the canteen and tried to get out by st 13. Yeah. Not that bad uh.. :P
Better really start studying for all my revision test, prelim and Os.
bye!

CC1 camp '

CC1 camp was amazing.
Speaking frankly, I was kind of hesitant and reluctant to go because there were many things holding me back to go to this camp. However, because of that one time, I happen to sit beside this sec 1 girl (and got to know her) during mass and I've heard her rattling non-stop, I've decided that I could help to get this year sec 1s to get to know god better.
Yes, even though 4 days were spent on facilitating the teens, instead of studying, I must gladly say... I didn't regret to come for this year's CC1 camp. I'm very sure that what I've learnt and done during this camp can never be compared to guides camp at all. During guides camp everyone were just horrible seniors doing nothing during camp and not even giving our 100%. If we really care, juniors first.

day 1:
As the teens reached the STC, I panicked. Part of me was really afraid that my group members wouldn't open up. However, I decided to make the best out of it, to come out of my comfort zone and take the step forward to let them know jesus. So the sessions went really well and I'm really glad that by the end of the day my group members went from "I need my phone badly..." to not even mentioning everything about phone. You do know if you give 100%, got will give you 200%. I've experienced it in many ways before. Besides through day 1, I've learnt to be able to open myself up to the teens and learnt to step out of  my comfort zone to push and prompt them further and for them to answer the questions deeply and all. Also, not only that, I've learnt to make eye contact while sharing and make the first step to share so that the teens will be able to share. Stepping out of my comfort zone was certainly not easy for me because I seldom step out of my comfort zone and share deeper about my life. And I've learnt that hey, I'm not that bad at prompting people. Well, even though I realised I was slightly too friendly with the teens will they may not listen to me during the activities.

Day 2:
Up and awake, being really hyper, considering the lack of sleep I have, I managed to be really hyperactive and then it was amazing race at west coast park to find JESUS!!! So we went around west coast park and played games with my teens guiding them along. Well, the whole day went really well even though it was tiring because I slept so little and having to keep my energy up for the whole day.
Still, I had a lot of fun with my group members and some how telling jokes and making each other high and everything. Also, the trust fall thing was really heartwarming. Standing on the chair and falling while their classmates catch them. Showed that they really trust their class in supporting them and catching them when they fall. The last game was the pegs where girls have to snatch pegs from the boys. HAHA. It was an interesting and wonderful sight.  Well, spent the night writing warm fuzzies to the teens and reflections and slept around 2am-3am. Yup. Learnt to be more responsible and I learnt that I must not let my guard down especially when everyone is really hyper and all. After that was mass where Father emmanuel came to celebrate for us and I do love his style. And then followed by praise and worship. Its been 3 months since my last praise and worship.

Day 3:
Clear up and a time of sharing and reflection...

Haha, I'm probably missing the teens now. Now that I'm on the giving end, I really have to give myself 100% and commit myself 100%. I've learnt many things about myself and I'm aware that I'm very blunt with my words and everything. Not only that, I know that god is with me, everywhere I go and he is in each and everyone of my friends.
Well, I hope that the teens enjoyed themselves and learnt more about God.

Took me really long to type this post because I fell asleep halfway while typing day 2. incoherent paragraph.... :[
Feeling tired now and I'm going to sleep after I eat dinner. k. bye.

08 June 2012

FUN FUN FUN FUN!!!!

What I've been doing for the past few days: PLAY.
Kidding. I'm gonna do the Monday:....thing.

Monday:
Met Michelle to study and I swear she is one of the greatest jokers alive in this world. Though we were quite productive but I kinda wasted a bit of my life... fixing heYeahr stupid earpiece. That was pretty funny...
1) she was unable to take out the plastic from the box. I had to help her.
2) she was unable to remove the box. I had to help her.
3) she was unable to fit the soft ear thing into the earpiece. I fixed one side for her. Then she couldn't do the other side. So I had to fix it for her too!
That was so funny at that point in time and I couldn't stop laughing. Did amath, physics and history. Okay la, not bad.. wait till Tuesday..

Tuesday:
Somehow... went to Michelle's house to study and I swear that was hell funny. Because we played 8 rounds of mario kart and out of 8 I only won 2. HAHA if I play with Xenia/Sharlene it would be like at least 5/8 or something. Anyway then we watched home alone 1,2 and enchanted. Had a fun time laughing at the boy in home alone. He is so cute trying to capture the bandits.

Yes and all I did was a bit of amath and nothing else before heading home...

Wednesday:
Kim, Mich and I were supposed to go cycling at east coast park but the weather was so bad. And haha the night before at 1am Mich and I panicked because we don't have a wet weather plan!!!! So we discussed that we will go to mich's house to play and quickly text the almighty kim who slept so early. Well.. it was because I was reading my book thats why I was awake at 1am plus. Whatever. So we decided to go with wet weather plan in the morning with messages at 7am. HAHA. It drizzled anyway.. we can't cycle. :(
So we played a bit of basketball first in the morning before heading to buy cold soya beancurd which I found out kim also love eating that! then off to chua's house and lala played guitar hero which kim and I were really bad at. And then luckily I have my guitar so I never ever die in guitar hero because I could kinda figure out the chords here and there. But I died like crazy when I used the button guitar thing. or the 'drums' which apparently if kim and I play.. we die like mad.
Well after that we head down for lunch. Then we went up and watched home alone 3. Which we spent half the time laughing while I actually spent the time nua-ing on the sofa. It was so comfortable. Well, but I watched the whole thing a little lost because I was reading book. But it was so funny as well. The boy is so intelligent.. If only I have a little of his smartness or something..
After that, we headed to AMK hub to watch snowwhite and the huntsman with JiaYi and Cheryl and the movie was pretty good and I guess the queen acted really well.. And she is quite pretty anyway. I guess? HAHA. Yepp thats all about it.

Thursday:
Studied with kim and mich and played cheat which I'm still very bad. I can't cheat for nuts!!! Its so funny when the pile have like don't know how many 7s and we all start to suspect each other lie/cheat but all don't dare to catch each other. Well, memorised SS, chem and did physics. yeah, reached home really really late.

Well, today is day 0 for sec 1 camp so I'm gonna disappear for a pretty long time.
Btw, Wattpad is amazing. HAHAHA.

03 June 2012

WATTPADDDDDD

Okay, I officially declare that I've gone insane.
I've been reading stories after stories, books after books, fan fiction after fan fiction for the past day. -__-
Well, and it is not fault for entering into this. Its just too addictive. Like whenever I scroll past my homepage/apps list there is "hey you! click me click me! you have an unfinished book!! finish it!!"
So I just clicked on it and I ended up reading and reading non-stop you can't blame them for being so overly addictive.
Besides I'm yawning my ass off now. I slept at 2am last night because I was reading a book in wattpad, in the dark. I'm so grateful that I can adjust the lighting for the night! which makes the whole thing even more perfect where I continue to read. Goodness.
Call me insane but I think I have to stop at some point because I have to start studying! And suddenly studying don't look attractive to me at all! :(
Shit and I'm feeling really tired now :(

02 June 2012

Jubilate IX

Ha! Jubilate IX is over.. Just yesterday, and I must say that it was amazing.
Had a good time making comments (basically I can't really keep them to myself). And don't worry, they're definitely not insulting comments! Not only that, "pedoing" on the cat high primary dance boys. Well, it wasn't my fault. The whole theatre was like "So cute!!!" HAHAHA!!
Oh and not to forget all the st Nicks Primary performance. Well, basically the whole thing was pretty good! Even the seats! 2nd row!! With lizzie's head blocking me but never mind! :P
Well, its a night worth to remember. Next up: confirmation... prom.
Took many many more pictures but I'm too lazy to upload HAHA.
At this point in time, I really feel like getting a DSLR or I should have brought my mum's cam out! ah! the quality is really bad!

... ... ... ...

I've been at a funeral for the past I think 5 days...
And its pretty much my first time being at a funeral different from a catholic one and its also my first time attending one from the start to the end.
So my grandmother had passed away while I was taking my chinese Olevel paper. And I guess I should dedicate a short blogpost to her and my experience at the funeral.
Even though I'm not really close to her, but I will still remember her really constant nagging. I mean, really. Every time when I visit her, she tells me in chinese/dialect that I've to lose weight and don't stare at my phone too much. Occasionally slipping $10 into my hands while talking to my parents. Yes that is my grandmother. I'm really grateful to her and I'm pretty sure she wants me to EAT LESS. Haha, that was what she told me like ever since I was young.
I went down on the first night of the funeral.. well, didn't expect much was kind of overwhelmed with emotions when the body was brought in and we all had to call what we usually call her. And then after that followed by prayer in which I followed. Well, then for the subsequent days, I had to travel all the way to CCK by train and on the train... 1) I lose balance and fall 2) I eat read book until I forget the stop. WTH. 3) I can't get into the train. I mean what in the ridiculous world is this.
Thats not the point, I learnt how to go to my Grandma's house by myself!!!! Bus 300, 4 stops lalala. So on the last day which was the day that was most emotional.. Well, a morning of prayers and I followed along before walking barefooted following the van out. We then reached Lim chu kang (??) we got on the bus halfway, didn't walk all the way though.. And then as we all watched the body go in to burn.. which is where everyone broke down and start crying (including me)... that was really uhm, sad..
Yepp, thats basically the end.
